Curriculum Evaluation Process

Appendix: Annex 5

Curriculum Evaluation and Revision Flowchart

At Syracuse Academy, our Curriculum Evaluation Committee rigorously assesses and refines our academic offerings to ensure they meet the highest standards of academic value and relevance. Comprising a diverse group of faculty, partner representatives, and external experts, this committee meets regularly every 6 months to review both existing and new syllabi and program structures. Our aim is to align our curriculum with international educational standards (as outlined by the Standards of Forum on Education Abroad, and additional publications), the Academy’s mission, and the evolving demands of the global job market, ensuring our students receive an education that is not only comprehensive but also globally competitive.

Committee members:

  • Program Leaders for each of Syracuse Academy’s program tracks
  • Faculty Members from diverse academic areas to provide subject matter expertise.
  • Administrative Staff involved in curriculum logistics and support services.

External consultative and advisory participation is requested by the committee to the following groups as needed based on the type of intervention on hand (syllabi revision, new course/program approval, pedagogical approaches and tools):

  • International Partner Institution representatives from various departments (international office, faculty, registrar, academic affairs)
  • Local community organization representatives providing insights on needs, challenges and potential projects within areas relevant to the curriculum development.
  • Students and alumni: through evaluation group sessions, interviews and surveys represent the learner’s perspective and feedback on curriculum relevance and engagement.
  • External Academic Experts to ensure alignment with industry standards and trends, from the field of international education and beyond.
  • Industry Professionals and Employers in relevant fields to advise on employability and practical skills.
