With a curriculum designed to foster global citizenship, the Academy’s summer offerings are a testament to our commitment to sustainable development and intercultural understanding.
This year, Syracuse Academy emphasizes experiential learning through three recommended academic tracks: Sustainable Food Systems, Archaeology and Cultural Heritage, and Environment and Biodiversity. Each track is carefully curated to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of their field, leveraging Sicily’s rich Mediterranean context as a living classroom.
Academic tracks
This year, Syracuse Academy emphasizes experiential learning through three recommended academic tracks: Sustainable Food Systems, Archaeology and Cultural Heritage, and Environment and Biodiversity. Each track is carefully curated to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of their field, leveraging Sicily’s rich Mediterranean context as a living classroom.
The Sustainable Food Systems track explores the identity and innovation behind Mediterranean food systems, while the Archaeology and Cultural Heritage track offers hands-on fieldwork in archaeology alongside studies in environmental humanities. For those passionate about the environment, the Environment and Biodiversity track dives into marine ecology and biodiversity in the Mediterranean, with a focus on sustainability in action.

These programs are supported by a distinguished faculty, including experts in anthropology, archaeology, and marine biology, ensuring a high-quality, multidisciplinary educational experience. With sessions ranging from two to four weeks and offering 3 to 7 academic credits, these programs are designed to accommodate a variety of academic interests and schedules.
