This summer, our students embarked on an exciting journey through our Urban Site Analysis and Design Summer Program in Sicily. By examining the architectural evolution of the Antico Mercato and the effects of tourism, our students gained a holistic understanding of this historic site. Blending Theory and Practice: Indoor Classes and Outdoor Exploration

Our students started with “Survival Italian” classes, where they learned the basics of getting around in Sicily and explored the key cultural differences between the U.S. and Italy. Finally, in Palermo, our students explored the rich blend of Norman, Arab, and Byzantine styles, witnessing firsthand the island’s diverse architectural heritage.
